Here are my impressions of my favorite cd :-)
Ana Popovic - Still making history release date july 2007
1. U complete me
A firy rock song with unbelievable guitar riffs and powerful sound and singing!
Typical is the stomping bass rhythm. But in case I love the blues version a bit more, because it´s my all time favorite at live concerts. Anas performance during this song is unbelievable. Everyone here knows what I mean, if she / he saw Ana live Smile This guitar playing is really outstanding. Especially I love the fine slidings that I first realize in that way, since I know the music of Ana Popovic!!!!!!! This song is the definition of dynamic!!!!
2. Hold on
A great song with wonderful brass arrangements and a very nice jazzy guitar background. A real highlight at every live concert and a wonderful one on this cd! Smile Anas strat tells us deep feelings at the second part of the song in a very intense way! I´m sure the told story is very real for Ana! Sitting at the airport and waiting for the plane or waiting for the visa is the harder thing for worldwide travelling musicians.
3. Between our worlds
For years I had a favorite reggae song (near Bob Marleys - no woman no cry or redemption song). It was a jazz style reggae called Ethereggae written and performed by some of the best jazz musicians (John Abercrombie, Jan Hammer, Jack de Johnette and Mike Brecker).
This jazzy reggae was the perfect alliance between jazz and third world reggae, but now it has a competitor. Just as well perfect but with the wonderful voice of Ana. Difficult to say what I love more, Anas singing or Mike Brecker´s sax? Everyone here can make his own choose. I really love this song live! Ana built a wonderful bridge between the worlds!!!!
4. Is this everything there is?
I love the main riff of that song. This riff is creative and melodic! I love the sound of this song live and on the cd. Powerful bass weaved with the voice of Ana and the main riff, that runs until it explodes in a fascinating sound!!!! It´s a highlight for me!!! How can someone write this song? The guitar solo is just unbelievable for me and shows the class of Ana!
5. Hungry
This song is very groovy and changes between the melodic refrain and an intense section. Very nice is the hammond background and some wonderful guitar solos. Live is this a special highlight for Mik!!!! Smile
6. Doubt everyone but you
My personal favorite on this cd. I never imagine that Ana plays in the champions league for singers. This wonderful jazz tune and her outstanding voice speaks for itself!!!!! Greetings to Diana Krall Wink
The band played a real jazz work. All musicians were at there top! What a song. By the way. This song is live a real highlight. Wonderful guitar work, wonderful piano work and a flowing fantastic bass and drum work!!!!
7. You don´t move me
A very groovy song with nice brass and hammond sound. Mik likes it!Wink
Anas voice sounds in every facet. In the middle part Ana spend us an exploding solo section with guitar and brass! In the closing section she delivers a bluesy solo, that boost in the last notes!
8. Still making history
I think this song is the main message of the cd! The calm sound and very intense singing lead this message straight to peoples heart. A wonderful melodic guitar work weaved with the backing musicians finest arts . The background sound and the piano solo are one of the finest.
9. My favorite night
Romantic voicing and an unbelivable fretless bass sound leading to the powerful refrain with some great guitar riffs. After that, - sliding and bass performance are working together! The music becomes more powerful and dynamic after that! This song is pure art! I love it!
10. How´d you learn to shake it like that?
This song shows Anas blues and boogie side. Unbelievable guitar work. Pure dynamic and rhythm. The middle guitar solo is fascinating everytime you listen to it! I cant wait to hear this song live!
11. Shadow after dark
A drastic brass and guitar sound accompanied with Ana warm voice. This mix invites to listen the lyric! In the middle section Ana delivers a fascinating guitar solo. The drummer played wonderful soulful! Finally this song boost in a big final!
12. Calendars
A soulful ballad from Ana! She sings very creative in front of a wonderful background sound. This song is a pure highlight.
13. Sexiest man alive
Really not a typical blues musicians song Smile Ana shows how important it is to bust chains! I think, the cd has such a wide spectrum of music how Ana can play and compose music. She has no borders! I like this song and its groovy style!
This cd is like Ana often said - "the best album I ever made" - I think it´s the right way! Bust the chains and let the world see, what you can do with your voice and guitar.
Bring your message to the people and give hope for the hopeless. We have actually no war in europe but the world has more and more wars and poorness. It´s our job to build the history! The world is on the wrong way !!!!
I´m very proud to see my name and some other well known names of active street - team - members in the booklet. That´s a very special thing for us and I really can´t say what I feel!
I hope, our confidence helped a bit to reach this final result! I loved all cd´s of Ana Popovic but the new one is really a special love!
